Norm Pegram, CEO and founder of PremierIMS, Inc., started International Mailing Systems, Inc. (IMS) in 1981 as a seller of the Texas Resident List to mailers around the country.
Norm was born and raised in San Antonio. While attending the University of Texas in Austin, he worked in the printing and mailing operations of the UIL (University Interscholastic League) from 1973 until his graduation from UT with an MBA in 1977. After graduation, Norm came to Houston and worked for National Mail Advertising (acquired in 2012) as a Salesman. There, on a sales call, he met Geno Baiamonte, who was a salesman for his family’s business, Service, Inc (acquired in 2010). In 1979, he went to work as Executive Vice President of Greater Houston Mailing Services, and when that company was acquired by Harte Hanks in 1980, left to start Mailplex List Services, later to become International Mailing Systems, Inc.
Since 1978, Norm has taught Direct Marketing seminars and courses, and currently serves as an Adjunct Professor teaching a Printing and Mailing course for the School of Technology Digital Media degree program at the University of Houston. Norm serves in various positions on the boards of the American Advertising Federation(AAF), Printing Industries of America (PIA) and the Mailing & Fulfillment Services Association (MFSA), to further his goal of promoting Direct Marketing. He has been known as “Dr. Mail” to associates , who assume he has “Meter Ink” in his blood!
When not working on growing his business, he relaxes in his Canyon Lake “weekend” residence in the Hill Country, flying Radio Control aircraft which he began as a hobby as a teenager. He has built and flown Radio Control aircraft as a lifelong hobby, accumulating over 50 airplanes, ranging in size from 8 feet wingspans, down to 2 footers, mostly replicas of WW II aircraft.
Geno Baiamonte is the president of PremierIMS, where he runs the organization and day-to-day operations, guiding the culture, teams, systems, and interactions with the market that keep our clients successful. Geno has dedicated decades to the graphic arts industry, and believes that understanding your customer’s goals is the most important step in the path to successful campaigns.
As a native Houstonian born and raised in the Heights, Geno has worked in his family’s blueprinting business since childhood. Service Inc visual communications was anchored downtown and dealt almost exclusively with the oil and gas companies and other major players in downtown Houston. Service Inc eventually grew to three locations, boasting the largest commercial darkrooms and the only large four color press in a downtown building.
In 2008, Geno joined Norm in a quest to combine several quality Houston direct marketing companies, specifically to move the industry forward through the declining economy. The net result is the combined talents, skills, fire power, resources, knowledge, and reputation of four of Houston’s marketing service icons.
Although Geno would never say he is the most interesting man in the world, he is very well read and knowledgeable on a smorgasbord of subjects. Too logical for his own good, he never stops asking “why, why, why” … much to the chagrin of those nearby.
Geno has served as officer for numerous trade organizations and community charities. He has won many awards and accolades for his industry and community service. He holds an Executive MBA from the University of Houston.
When Geno isn’t enjoying “the smell of ink in the morning”, he is relaxing in the Hill Country practicing his survival skills and watching the Great British Baking Show.
